To ensure that communication between your network and Tidepool is fully enabled and unhampered by firewalls or other settings, please review this list of domains that need to be added to network exception lists.

Tidepool provides software to help import, manage, store, and gain insights from diabetes device data. We provide our software and data hosting services for free to end users: people with diabetes, their care teams, and clinicians.

New personal and clinician accounts can be created by visiting https://tidepool.org/signup

Tidepool has a robust, FDA-compliant quality system and follows the software development and testing process described here.

Tidepool's currently deployed applications include Tidepool Web, Tidepool Uploader, and Tidepool Mobile.

More information about Tidepool's software experience can be found at provider.tidepool.org.

Tidepool Web

Tidepool Web is a hosted web application for visualizing and gaining insights from diabetes data. Tidepool Web is accessed via https://app.tidepool.org using Google Chrome.

Tidepool Web runs in a web browser and is compatible with any locally-installed antivirus and security software.

All communications to app.tidepool.org occur over HTTPS using TLS 1.2 or higher

Tidepool Uploader

See tidepool.org/devices for a full list of devices compatible with Tidepool Uploader.

Tidepool Uploader is an installable Mac and PC application that allows end users and clinicians to upload data from supported diabetes devices—insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors and blood glucose meters—to Tidepool accounts.

Diabetes device data that is uploaded through the Tidepool Uploader is parsed and validated based on device drivers written in compliance with the device maker specifications and/or Open standards.

When logged in as a clinician user, Tidepool Uploader presents a user experience tailored to quickly creating and retrieving patient profiles in a clinic. See "Accounts and Data Sharing Permissions" for more information about clinic-created patient custodial accounts and end-user created accounts.

Tidepool users can export uploaded data in a JSON or Excel (.XLSX) format for external use.

Tidepool is registered with Symantec, McAfee, and Kaspersky though some antivirus programs may complain upon initial installation of the Tidepool Uploader device drivers as Administrator access is required to complete installation.

Tidepool Uploader can be managed and silently installed across a clinic network using automated deployment tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Active Directory Group Policy

Tidepool Mobile

Tidepool Mobile is a notes app — and companion to Tidepool Web — for iOS and Android that allows users to add context to their diabetes data. iOS users can also use Tidepool Mobile to automatically upload blood glucose, carb, and insulin data from Apple Health. Notes entered into Tidepool Mobile can be viewed by anyone with access to that account, including clinicians, via the Tidepool Web or Tidepool Mobile application.

Tidepool Mobile is not recommended or designed for use by clinician users.
