The following data flow diagram is high level overview of the minimal general elements of data uploaded to Tidepool Web via Tidepool Uploader and the model under which the data is shared.

Data included in a Tidepool account includes name, date of birth, diagnosis date, and diabetes device data. This data can be shared with another account, either personal or clinician. This data can be donated through Tidepool Big Data Donation Project. If a user opts in to donating their data, it is anonymized and de-identified. Further, only the user birth month and birth year, and diagnosis month and diagnosis year are associated with their donated diabetes device data. Users can opt out at any time.
