Update guardrail limits based on JAEB analysis

Description

Tidepool is completing an analysis of JAEB observational study data for guardrail analysis for warnings and limits displayed in both the user-facing Tidepool Loop app and the clinician-facing Tidepool Loop Prescription Flow.

The Data Science team is completing the analysis, and once complete this ticket and done criteria will be updated based on the blocked by ticket:

Done Criteria

Set the following thresholds for maximum values, minimum values, high warning values, and low warning values across Tidepool Loop settings. These values should be accommodated both in the welcome flow, when the user is reviewing settings from their prescription, as well as any time the user updates their settings.

During ongoing use, the user should not be able to make the app crash by changing settings.

All glucose values below are mg/dL.

Carb Ratio values are g/U

Insulin Sensitivities are mg/dL/U

Glucose Safety Limit :

  • Maximum: 110 (or Minimum of Correction Range , Workout Correction Range, or Pre-Meal Correction Range if they have been set to less than 110)

  • High Warning: >80 (for clarity, 80 will not have a warning, but 81 will)

  • Low Warning: <74 (for clarity, 74 will not have a warning, but 73 will)

  • Minimum: 67

Correction Range :

  • Maximum: 180

  • High Warning: >115 (for clarity, 115 will not have a warning, but 116 will)

  • Low Warning: <101 (for clarity, 101 will not display a warning, but 100 will)

  • Minimum: higher of 87 or Suspend Threshold

Workout Correction Range :

  • Maximum: 250

  • High Warning: >180 (for clarity, 180 will not have a warning, but 181 will)

  • Low Warning: < Correction Range Upper Bound

  • Minimum: higher of 85 or Suspend Threshold

Pre-Meal Correction Range :

  • Maximum: 130

  • High Warning: > Correction Range Lower Bound

  • Low Warning: n/a

  • Minimum: Suspend Threshold

Insulin Sensitivity (Note to developer: This requirement is already met as of build 273.)

  • Maximum: 500

  • High Warning: >399 (for clarity, 399 will not display a warning, but 400 will)

  • Low Warning: <16 (for clarity, 16 will not display a warning, but 15 will)

  • Minimum: 10

Carb Ratio (Note to developer: This requirement is already met as of build 273.)

  • Maximum: 150

  • High Warning: >28 (for clarity, 28 is not a warning, but 28.000001 would be)

  • Low Warning: <4 (for clarity, 3.999999 would be a warning, but 4 would not)

  • Minimum: 2

Scheduled Basal Rates

  • Maximum: The highest basal rate the pump supports that is <= 30 U/hr

  • High Warning: n/a

  • Low Warning: n/a

  • Minimum: The lowest basal rate the pump supports that is >= 0.05 U/hr

Max Basal Delivery Limit

  • Maximum: 70 / Lowest Carb Ratio (in the user’s carb ratio schedule)

  • High Warning: > Highest Scheduled Basal Rate x 6.4 (for clarity, hSBRx6.4 will not display a warning, but hSBRx6.5 will.)

  • Low Warning: < Highest Scheduled Basal Rate x 2.1 (for clarity, hSBRx2.1 will not display a warning, but hSBRx2.0 will.)

  • Minimum: Highest Scheduled Basal Rate

(note that hSBR = Highest Scheduled Basal Rate)

Max Bolus Delivery Limit (Note to developer: Only Maximum needs to be updated, as of build 273.)

  • Maximum: The max bolus delivery limit the pump supports that is <= 30 U

  • High Warning: +>+20 (for clarity, 19.9 will not display a warning, but 20.0 will)

    • If pump supported maximum < 20, do not show a high warning.

  • Low Warning: Minimum increment supported by the pump > 0

  • Minimum: Minimum increment supported by the pump > 0
